Work In Operations

Rate Clerk

Are you accountable?

Do you like working with numbers? Do you understand the value of goods and services? If you're interested in learning and understanding the financial operations of a trucking company, but are not quite sure where to start, why not consider a position as a Rate Clerk? Working as a Rate Clerk will allow you to take your love for numbers and apply that knowledge directly to a carrier's operation. If you're looking to get into the financial side of the carrier's operations, then this might be the career for you.

What would I do?

As a Rate Clerk, you'll be responsible for calculating and determining the rate that customers are charged to move their freight. You'll also be responsible for preparing invoices and account statements, as well as performing other related clerical duties in the accounting department.

You may be called upon to work with the customer's accounting department, so customer service and communication skills are useful. Accounting and computer skills are also helpful, as is attention to detail.
