Where would I work?
As a Dock Worker, you can look for employment virtually anywhere in Canada. There are positions in urban and rural locations across the country. You may work both indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to extreme temperatures as well. Some carriers choose Dock Workers when selecting candidates for driver training and other specialties.
Warehouse, dock and terminal operations tend to run 24/7, so shift work is common. Shifts are generally 8 hours, but may be longer. Because loading docks and warehouses are busy places, that accommodate both day and night deliveries and departures, people who work there must be flexible and able to work various shifts and days of the week.
